Space can be construed as the distance between two points. In a larger context, it is the distance between two locations on this earth. The understanding and application of aerodynamics that led to the invention of air travel has been one of the technologies instrumental in making the world a global village. The ability to travel vast distances in relatively short time led to a paradigm shift in perceptions of space and distance as faster and faster methods of air travel evolved. Aerodynamics then led to rocketry and space travel. Making an object that can be easily flown is a fascinating experience for all ages.
This workshop will encompass an introduction to the basics of aerodynamics (How airplanes fly) followed by an introduction to aero-modelling. Thereafter, the participants will be introduced to the unique technique of “Walk Along Gliding” technically known as “Controlled Slope Soaring”. Because this involves flying an object without any motor or any power source, it almost seems like magic!
Duration: 90 minutes
TR Ananthnarayan has spent several years involved in the study and practice of the various aspects of Indoor Free Flight Aero-modelling. He provides consultancy to plan strategies and execute workshops/events in the various categories of indoor free flight aero-modelling around India and abroad. He also conducts training for instructors who can then go on to conduct workshops in their respective regions, in order to create a larger pool of indoor free flight aero-modellers.
